Excitement On The Coast | A Weekend Of Events
A weekend of events
British weather is always a gamble. One year we’re blessed with a warm and beautifully sunny Summer; and the next…. well, we’re sure you know the rest. With current weather conditions arguably on par with the wettest June on record, Saturday 15th June looked as though it could be a washout…but the sun made its appearances at exactly the right times.
Some-Fing happened in Worthing…
A busy day for the community of Worthing, The Worthing Children’s Parade took place in the morning, with the theme of ‘David Walliams Books’; and whilst Gangsta Granny and Mr Stink were marching their way along Marine Parade, a certain celebrity made his appearance.
Yes, Mr David Walliams came along to join in the fun. Posting on Instagram, he said “Thank you to everyone who came to the Worthing Children’s Parade today. I loved seeing all the costumes and creations and was thrilled that this year the theme was my books.”
Guild Care in the community
Following the parade was Guild Care’s Charity Day, with stalls of local goodies, hot food, bas, facepainting, inflatables and fairground rides there was loads to keep the whole family entertained. Music and dance shows took place on the stage and crowds gathered, even in the rain, to join in the fun.
And finally, bringing and end to a successful day in Worthing was Guild Care’s Walk For Worthing. We have a long-standing relationship with Guild Care and were proud to be sponsors for their walk once again this year. Over 250 people turned up to join in and support the cause.
Participants could choose to do a 5k or 10k walk, stride, shimmy or sprint to raise funds for the charity, whose goal is to keep vital local services going for children and adults dealing with the daily challenge of a disability, loss of independence, or dementia.
Bringing Lancing Together
This past weekend wasn’t all about Worthing for us. We were also supporting two events close to our offices in Lancing.
Taking part in Lancing Traders’ Association’s Summer Fayre, we joined other Lancing businesses in an all-out street party. The day was a huge success, despite the weather, with so many residents, traders and visitors coming along to enjoy the sound of the steel drums…if you closed your eyes it was almost as if you were actually in the Caribbean….kind of.
The community event was on all day, with fancy dress competitions (both for people and their pets!), games, prizes, kids rides and more. We’re definitely looking forward to the next one!
Lancing in bloom
Our third and final event for the day was Lancing’s Garden Competition. Held at the Parish Hall, many of the town’s residents gathered together to celebrate the beauty of nature. Our Lancing boys Perry and Ricky made sure they were there for the prize giving and even presented a plaque to one of the winners!
