Supporting 50 Years of Pride

June 4, 2019

We all know about Worthing Pride and I’m sure many of us have experienced Brighton Pride at least once! But did you know that every year, across the globe, June is recognised as ‘Pride Month’; and various events are held during this special month as a way of recognising the influence LGBTQ people have had around the world.

More than 400,000 people attended Brighton Pride last year. A figure that almost matches The New York Parade; one of the largest and most well-known Pride parades.
Pride Month is so important because it marks the start of huge change within the LGBTQ+ community, as well as the wider societal implications.

So, why was June chosen? Because it is when the Stonewall Riots took place, way back in 1969.
