Since opening our very first office in Broadwater in 1984, Jacobs Steel has grown to the largest independent estate and letting agent on the south coast, with six-branches and over 45 property professionals dedicated to sales, lettings, or specialising in both residential or commercial property. Our teams span offices located in Worthing, West Worthing, Findon, Lancing, Shoreham and Brighton & Hove.

Our Directors

Matt Jacobs and Patrick Barton took over the reins from founding directors Ashley Jacobs and Derek Steel in 2018. Both Pat and Matt have enjoyed a long history with the company and still thoroughly enjoy the day to day running of the business whilst still being client facing.

When I first learnt to drive, I helped out as a viewings guide on Saturdays. After traveling the world in my early 20’s, I returned to Worthing with a desire to learn the profession in a fast paced market with my father at the helm.

After a fairly disappointing first year at college, I saw an advert for a trainee estate agent, went for an interview with Ashley Jacobs, got told to buy a new suit and started the next day and as they say, the rest is history.

I was a year old when my father, Ashley and Derek Steel founded the company.

After travelling I relocated to work for a central London estate agency in my early 20’s and then ran a sales business in Sydney for almost a decade. I returned to Worthing with my young family in 2017 to lead Jacobs Steel with Pat Barton. What a journey it’s been!

Matt JacobsManaging Director

Trainee to Managing Director. Pat Barton started his career in estate agency more than 25 years ago when he applied for his first job at Jacobs Steel.

Since then, Pat has worked in the peaks and troughs of the South Coast property market; making him the perfect candidate to join Matt Jacobs as joint Managing Director of Jacobs Steel in 2018.
